What To Expect When Working With Us

Below is a breakdown of what to expect when working with us, our average project rates, and billing information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me ASAP.

1. Quotes are value-based, not time-based (none of that hourly rate gobbledy-goop).


We charge on a project basis rather than by the hour. You are paying us for results and quality work, not for the amount of time we spend doing research or optimizing your website.

Project-based and monthly recurring fees will save both your company and ours a lot of time and money in the long run. You get quality work and we get to keep providing it. Win-win.



2. We like 6-12 month retainer contracts.


A solid search campaign requires a long game. Yes, even PPC. We need to be able to plan ahead to execute properly and drive results. If we don’t know whether we will be working with you the following month, we are forced to create a myopic strategy that is focused more on timing rather than your audience and goals.

Other work such as audits or short PPC/Social Ad promo campaigns are easier to manage on a single project basis.


3. We're going to ask for your budget.

It’s a bit forward. We get it. You’re likely thinking that if you give us a number, we’re going to try and use it all.

You’re right.

But we wouldn’t be good marketers if we were not trying to maximize the budget you give us. If you were a car salesman, and I told you I had $100,000 to spend on the best car money could buy, would you steer me toward a Toyota Corolla or a fully-loaded Tesla?


4. We're going to ask for access to tools and/or your site.

In order to quote properly, scope out work properly, and provide you with the best contract possible, we’re going to need to see how your website currently performs. This often means providing us with information on traffic, conversions, diagnostics, etc.

Some folks understandably don’t like to provide this to me or trust that their information is safe. I can tell you right now, there is no money in selling website traffic information from Google Analytics or the like. We need that data in order to see where you’re at, find any issues, and determine how we can help grow your business.

Plus, once we’ve done our analysis, you can revoke any permissions you’ve given us. We’re also 100% happy to sign any NDAs.

If you’re still uneasy about providing us that information, it’s no problem. We’re just not meant to work together at this time.


5. We are only interested in doing great work, not cheap work.

You’ll find that we DO NOT budge on the minimums stipulated below (unless you’re a referral or friend). We want to know that you are ready to make a serious investment not only in your business, but in the great work we will provide to you.

  • We follow clear processes for all our services.
  • We check in regularly before you even think about it.
  • We are 100% transparent with how we work and who we work with.
  • We know what it takes to bring results because we’ve worked in agencies and for some of the biggest Fortune 500 companies out there like Google, Disney, and Yahoo.
  • These fine folks were all happy with our work.


6. I'm a family man and a businessman. I take our work seriously, but not to the extreme.

I’ve been fortunate to work at some great companies and agencies as well as build my own. I know that it takes sweat, tears, and sacrifice to grow a successful business. Which is why I take your work—and mine—seriously.

Know that I will do everything possible to help grow your digital business through search. Also know that, like you, I have work hours that I protect vigorously. You will always be able to get in touch with me during normal business hours, and I’m always happy to respond via email when possible after hours. However, please note that I am 100% unavailable on weekends and after 6pm on weekdays. Gotta spend time with that family.


7. We use Freshbooks for billing and prefer bank transfer, checks, or credit card payments.

Bank transfers and credit cards are easiest. Please note that a 2.9% additional fee will be added to all bank transfer invoices to cover processing fees. If you are outside the US, any exchange rate fees will be included in invoices.

If you can avoid PayPal at all costs, we would love you forever.



1. SEO & Audits

Minimum Website Audit Price: $3,000

Website Audits start at $3,000 and cover approximately 50-75 checkpoints. Full audits cover nearly 200 checkpoints and range from $6,000 to $20,000 based on the size of the website.

For audits, we require 50% payment up front and then completed payment upon delivery.

Minimum Monthly SEO Engagement Fee: $1,500

For ongoing monthly work, our campaign minimum rate is $1,500. Month One of an SEO campaign typically involves the most work and so we may charge an additional 50% of the monthly fee, but we will explain in detail what we are specifically doing.

We prefer to work with minimum 12-month contracts because results from any major SEO/Content/Link Building work tend to take 6-12 months to show results, with the growth period then occurring after 6 months. This depends on your business, traffic, and Google, but these are the normal time frames we have experienced.

If you prefer to work month to month we will adjust our strategy accordingly, but we’ll need to discuss with you first to make sure you’re aware of how this will limit your results.



2. PPC & Social Media Ads



Minimum Monthly PPC/Social Management Fee (does not include media costs): $500

Setup in the first month will come at an additional cost.

We have four pricing tiers all based on ad spend. Please contact us or call 818.588.6462 for specifics on these as we don’t like to share this data with potential competitors.

NOTE: Media costs to Google AdWords, Bing Ads, or any other network are charged separately to your card and not our responsibility.


3. Funnel Improvements



We price out most conversion funnel improvement work and consulting on a per project basis. Common funnel improvement work includes the following:

  • One-time conversion/checkout process changes
    • Ongoing A/B testing (Please note that your site must receive at least 5,000 average monthly visitors for testing to be effective)
  • Landing page creation
  • Analytics or tracking modifications and configuration

Depending on what’s needed, we will work with you to plan out the project and put together a comprehensive project price. Typically these projects range from $1,500 to $10,000.



4. Blog Writing



We don’t do much standalone blog writing anymore. We try to work it into a larger SEO and content strategy. This is why we’re not cheap. Still, if you need super high-quality blogs that will drive traffic, leads, or sales, then we can absolutely help.

Minimum Blogging Rates

Blogging Prep (one time; required): $500

Includes 2 Audience Personas, Voice and Tone Brief, and Editorial Calendar (all required).

Minimum prices for blog posts include scoping, research, outlining, necessary images (all CC unless provided by you) or annotated screenshots, and 1 round of edits, are as follows:

– 350-500 words: $150

– 500-800 words: $200

– 800-1250 words: $250

The above pricing may need to be adjusted depending on the topics and expertise/research required. Beyond that, you will need to contact us.


5. Consulting


Minimum Consulting Rate: $100/hour

I’ve provided online marketing consulting for numerous companies in various forms:

  • Training
  • Strategy development
  • Hands-on optimization work
  • Optimization guidance

I’m capable of hitting the ground running with your team. No crazy ego or desires to upend your work environment. My job is to help where needed.
